Style Awards

I will let you all in on a secret: I am a HUGE award-show fan.  I love watching the red carpet coverage, celebrating when my favorites win, and yelling at the television when they don’t. Award season was kicked off with the People’s Choice Awards.  While there were some fashion risk-takers, the majority of the starlets’ sartorial choices were lackluster. I was impressed by Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Hough, though.

While they are both relative newcomers on the award show circuit, they looked great.  Julianne Hough’s sparkly and slightly celestial Tony Ward Couture dress looked great on her. Her shoes were a good choice in my opinion, and I loved her slightly unkempt hair. Most of all, the entire ensemble was youthful and fun, which suited her perfectly.

I think fifteen-year-old Chloë Grace Moretz stole the show with her neon Simone Rocha mini-dress.  Almost every other celebrity chose darker colors, so the electric yellow really stood out.  Instead of appearing garish, it looked modern and chic on her.  I loved her simple makeup and half updo.

Both of these dresses could easily be incorporated into your own wardrobes. You couldn’t go wrong with a shimmering A-line dress at a winter formal.  A bright fit-and-flare dress would be perfect for a spring lunch or date night. Even if they weren’t among the official winners that night, they both receive style awards from me.
